The word of God

Lift up your eyes to the heavens,

and look upon the earth beneath:

for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke,

and the earth shall wax old like a garment,

and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner:

but my salvation shall be for ever,

and my righteousness shall not be abolished. Isaiah 51:6

Lift up your eyes on high,

and behold who hath created these things,

that bringeth out their host by number:

he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth. Isaiah 40:26

Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth:

and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure:

yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment;

as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: psalm 102:25-26

 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35

 and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:  whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:  but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 

 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 2 Peter 3:4-13

And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved,

and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down,

as the leaf falleth off from the vine,

and as a falling fig from the fig tree. Isaiah 34:4

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth:

and the former shall not be remembered,

nor come into mind. Isaiah 65:17

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. Isaiah 66:22

 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 

 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.  Romans 8:19-23

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring. Luke 21:25

And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. Revelation 6:12-13

The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark,

and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

and the Lord shall utter his voice before his army:

for his camp is very great:

for he is strong that executeth his word:

for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible;

and who can abide it? Joel 2:10-11

And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come. Joel 2:30-31

For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity;

and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. Isaiah 13:10-11

 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. Revelation 16:18

men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luke 21:26

for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. Matthew 24:21-22 

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion,

and sound an alarm in my holy mountain:

let all the inhabitants of the land tremble:

for the day of the Lord cometh,

for it is nigh at hand;

a day of darkness and of gloominess,

a day of clouds and of thick darkness,

as the morning spread upon the mountains:

a great people and a strong;

there hath not been ever the like,

neither shall be any more after it,

even to the years of many generations. Joel 2:1-2

Therefore I will shake the heavens,

and the earth shall remove out of her place,

in the wrath of the Lord of hosts,

and in the day of his fierce anger. Isaiah 13:13

The great day of the Lord is near,

it is near, and hasteth greatly,

even the voice of the day of the Lord:

the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

 That day is a day of wrath,

a day of trouble and distress,

a day of wasteness and desolation,

a day of darkness and gloominess,

a day of clouds and thick darkness,

 a day of the trumpet and alarm

against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men,

because they have sinned against the Lord:

and their blood shall be poured out as dust,

and their flesh as the dung.

Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them

in the day of the Lord’s wrath;

but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy:

for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land. Zephaniah 1:14-18

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord God, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon,

and I will darken the earth in the clear day: Amos 8:9 

Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord!

to what end is it for you?the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light. 

As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it? Amos 5:18-20
