But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one. Acts 8:9
Bewitched - To fascinate, to gain ascendency over by charm or incantation. utterly amazed , to marvel
to charm , to fascinate to please to such a degree as to take away the power of resistance . to deceive or mislead by juggling tricks or imposter
bewitching - that has the power to bewitch or fascinate that has power to control by the art of pleasing
And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. Acts 8:11
And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him. And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? Acts 13:6-10
