Jesus set the example for us what a servants heart and true leadership looks like. Jesus washed the feet of Judas knowing that Judas would betray Him. If we don't have that humility we need it before stepping into leadership. Leadership is to serve others not ourselves.
The servanthood of Jesus wasn't self serving, it was to do the will of His Father. And so we who have been risen with Christ ought to not be self serving but to be about our Father's will. And be examples of the leadership and servanthood of Jesus.
John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do Mine own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
Leadership begins with servanthood. Being selfless.
Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but minister, and give His life a ransom for many.
We are to Humble ourself & take the lowest position
Matthew 23:11-12) 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Matthew 20:25-28) 25 But Jesus called them unto Him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant. 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.
John 13:14-16) 14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord; neither he that is sent greater than
Luke 14:8-11) 8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him. 9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room. 10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. 11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Luke 18:13-14) 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
