Yesterday as I was riding to a meeting , I was looking at all the trees and on this street I noticed all the leaves have fallen it was very windy yesterday and I noticed one tree still had this little brown leaf hanging on it was blowing in the wind but that leaf wouldn't fall. when I'm outside looking upon the beauty of God's creation, I look at things spiritually. and when I seen that tree with the one leaf holding on I thought of a few ways to look at it. one being that no matter how hard the wind blew and beat upon that leaf though it was shaken it did not fall and a couple scriptures came to mind ---> Matthew 7:24-25) 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Hebrews 12:25-29) 25 See that ye refuse not hi...m that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26 whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 for our God is a consuming fire.
The other way that I looked at the tree with one leaf was sometimes we stubbornly hold on to things that need to be let go of , and sometimes we hold on to fear of stepping out and doing what we know God is telling us to do. that one leaf was shaking in the strong gust's of wind and it would not fall, there are so many ways to look at this spiritually speaking. sometimes we go through storms and it looks like everything around us is falling but like that leaf we hold on . sometimes we have that one stubborn sin our life that we hold on to even when we should be letting go, and we endure the chastening of the Lord and go through the refining fire to shake it out of us. when all the leaves fall the tree looks bare then winter comes the snow covers the branches everything washed in white snow. spring comes and the tree looks beautiful again, those old leaves that have endured the seasons have to fall away in order for new seasons to come along . its like in John 15 Jesus said every branch in me that beareth not fruit He takes away and every branch that bears fruit He purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
