study I am currently doing

Matthew 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

is laid -  to be laid, applied

hewn down - to frustrate , cut down , (off out) hew down hinder

Matthew 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

bringeth - bring about , form , produce , external act as manifested

Luke 13:7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

Cumbereth - to make without effect, make vain , fruitless void

Luke 13:9  and if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit

Purgeth - to cleanse , to prune, to expiate cleanse from filth, purify clean without stain or spot. from useless branches, cleanse from sin , make atonement

John 15:6 If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Matthew 15:13 But He answered and said, Every plant, which My heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Planted - to set out in earth, implant , to instill doctrine - plant

1 Corinthians 3:12-15) 12  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;  13  every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.  14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.  15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God

Judge - to form and express a judgement or opinions as to any person or thing more commonly unfavourable in an absolute sense

Time - appointed time or set

will bring to Light - shine light upon , impart moral and spiritual light , illuminate make one know see or understand, make known

1 Peter 1:7 that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ

Trial - a testing (by implication) trustworthiness trying

be tried - put to proof , examine by fire

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you

Try -  trial of one character by implication trial of ones virtue, temptation, solicitation to sin

Luke 2:35 (yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

James 1:3 knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

James 1:12  Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Job 23:10 But He knoweth the way that I take when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Psalms 66:10 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.

Hast proved - investigate examined try trial prove

Tried is referring to the purifying effects of external trials

Biblical writers sometimes compared God's testing to the refining of precious metals like gold and silver

Proverbs 17:3  The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts

Isaiah 43:10 Behold I have refined thee but not with silver : I have chosen thee in the furnance of affliction .

Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.
